Tourist information - Baths - Széchenyi Medicinal Bath

The Széchenyi Medicinal Bath in Budapest (Széchenyi-gyógyfürdő) is the largest medicinal bath in Europe. The bath can be found in the City Park, and was built in 1913 in Neo-baroque style. It is also a station of the yellow M1 (Millennium Underground) line of the Budapest Metro.

It has two separate parts, two different worlds of architecture that attract two different types of regular. The dome of the main entrance, which looks so light from the outside, has a huge art nouveau mosaic inside. The tiles on the floor, the lights, the door-frames, every fitting was made with exceptional care.  The northern wing was opened in 1927, and its neo-Baroque interior already shows a very modern use of space. In winter the pools are reached through a heated corridor.
